D-Will's minute-limit to be lifted Sunday
The Nets will lift Deron Williams' minute-limit by Sunday's game vs. the Magic, according to GM Billy King.
This means that Williams, who played 22 minutes in his season debut, may also be limited vs. the Heat on Friday. Owners will happily accept one more quiet game if it means D-Will can play unfettered minutes going forward, but for that to happen his balky ankles will have to cooperate.
Andrew Bynum's status unknown for Fri & Sat
The Cavaliers will wait until before tip-off to determine Andrew Bynum's status for games on Friday and Saturday.
He made it through eight minutes of action unscathed on Wednesday, but is likely to be a 'game-time decision' for the foreseeable future. Anderson Varejao's starting C job is safe as long as Bynum is being eased gently back into the rotation, and anyone relying on Bynum will have to hold their breath until his status is announced pre-game.
Avery Bradley (head) questionable for Friday
Avery Bradley was tested for a concussion after Wednesday's game but the results were negative, and he'll be re-evaluated on Friday.
This puts his status in jeopardy for Friday's game vs. the Bucks, who are themselves thin on PGs with Brandon Knight (hamstring) out and Luke Ridnour (back) doubtful. "To me, it’s really important to be conservative and to make sure that we make the right decisions on [concussions]," said coach Brad Stevens. "At the end of the day that's a lot more important than the next game." If Bradley can't suit up, Jordan Crawford and Phil Pressey should handle most of the PG duties, with Courtney Lee and Jeff Green also taking on bigger roles.
Tim Duncan (chest) doubtful to play Friday
An MRI confirmed that Tim Duncan suffered a chest contusion during Wednesday's game, and he's doubtful to play on Friday.
The good news is that he didn't break a rib or suffer any more serious damage, and he'll be with the team when they travel for games in L.A., Portland and Denver. If he's forced to miss any games, expect more playing time for Tiago Splitter, Boris Diaw and Jeff Ayres.
Felton: Hamstring could hurt for 'six weeks'
Raymond Felton expects to play on Thursday, but he admitted that his injured hamstring "could last two, three days, but it could last up to six weeks."
"Hopefully it goes away," Felton said. "Hopefully one day I wake up and it’s gone. Right now it’s a nagging thing I have to deal with." Given how easy it is to aggravate a hamstring injury, Felton's owners should be frequently checking his status before games -- he'll have a tough test vs. Derrick Rose on Thursday, assuming he does suit up as planned.
Nene (calf) sounds probable to play Friday
Nene (calf) did not practice on Thursday but coach Randy Wittman said, "I think he's fine, a little sore ... I don't foresee anything there."
The implication is that Nene will be available Friday vs. the 76ers, but it's hard to shake an ominous feeling with Nene banged up after one regular season game. Marcin Gortat should soon move into the starting C position, shifting Nene to PF and Trevor Booker to the bench. If Nene is limited by the injury, his minutes will be divvied up among Booker, Gortat, Al Harrington and Kevin Seraphin.
Brandon Knight (hamstring) out for Friday
Brandon Knight will miss Friday's game against Boston with a hamstring injury.
Knight left Wednesday's game with a right hamstring injury and has been ruled out for Friday's action against the Celtics. Luke Ridnour would stand to pick up some of Knight's minutes, but he's doubtful for Friday with a back injury. In the meantime, Nate Wolters and Gary Neal should see an increase in minutes and make for interesting low-cost options for fantasy owners playing on FanDuel.
Shaun Livingston dealing with sprained thumb
Shaun Livingston had his sprained right thumb taped during Thursday's practice.
Livingston only played 16 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's season opener and this latest injury won't help matters for the Nets' backup point guard. Livingston doesn't offer much to fantasy owners when healthy and this news should only serve to steer owners away from the eight-year veteran.
